What kind of game is Greyline?
Greyline mixes a visual novel with light management. The fixer who ran Greyline Solutions disappeared three days ago, and the office and crew are now yours. The city is split between the Crown at the top, where clean air is sold by the breath, and the Basin below, with flooded streets, blackouts and everything on subscription.
The pixel art follows the rainy neon style of VA-11 Hall-A, and the game is free with no ads or microtransactions.
How to play Greyline
- Each day runs morning, day and night. Mornings are breakfast and small talk at the office.
- During the day, use the office terminal to send crew members on jobs: who goes, with which gear, for which faction.
- At night, pick one place in the Basin to visit and talk to the people there.
- When a job goes wrong, the crew call you mid-mission and your answer decides how it ends.
The crew and the choices
- Kira, the netrunner.
- Slade, an ex-corporate mercenary.
- Wrench, the mechanic who feeds everyone.
Each has a line they do not want crossed, and they remember when you cross it. Trust rises and falls with your choices, and factions notice who you work for. Gear matters too: corporate gear is strong until its licence lapses, while freeware gear is weaker but free forever.
